why allow others to decide for you
I have been surfing around many blogs this week because I wanted to read about how others feel about Obama. For the most part most post have been positive but some of the comments have been a bit much. I have read everything from how happy people are to people saying as Muslims we should not vote. WTH
What world do you live in??????????? If you live in the states and you do not vote AND your Muslim IMHO you’re crazy!!!
In this day when they are making laws that want to take away your rights; why wouldnt you vote. If you leave it up to the people that could care less about you what do you think will happen? Do you not realize that there are laws that allow people to hold you without cause just becuse you look a certain way or your name is an Arab or Muslims name? My step brother tried to catch a plane when he was 12 and was stopped from boardign a plane becuase of his name. HE WAS 12. the man that they wanted was over 40; but they could still hold him becuase of the law. Do you know there are people that have been hauled off to jail just becuase of where they lived before comming to the states, in Muslim countries, and it was leagle for the police to arrest them. Do you think people that wanted the best for the Muslim cummunities voted for these things? Do you think they care about how it will affect you? NO they dont, so you need to vote for people that will care, that will stand up and do the right thing, that will not do anything that will cause more harm even if they can not do anythign to change the situations. To just sit at home and allow others to decide YOUR future and the future of YOUR children is CRAZY!!!
Unless you live in a glass bubble thing that happen in the states will affect you. If you just think oh well these things have nothing to do with me because they are not Islamic laws, your crazy! If you live in the states everything there will affect you; and even when you dont it still will trickle all over the world. If you are living overseas and your staying there depends on you working then dont you think the relationship that country has with the states will affect you. Do you know there are some countries that will not allow a US citizen to work there? do you not think if the US messes things up so badly that a country cant just say oh well we do not want any of them here. It has happened before and dont think it cant happen again. Do you think that just becuase you got out that means everything is ok. If so what planet do you live on?!!!! These countries do not care that you are Muslim you are there to work. Their laws are NOT for you they are for the nationals. At any time they can say, Assalamu alakium, see you later, adios, good bye, hit the road jack and dont come back here no more; and then what????? Where will you go? UMMMMMM maybe back to the staes or maybe to another Muslim country that can kick you out also.
Another thing is everything that happens in the states trickles all over the world. Just look at the economy that will show you. The states is in a mess and because of that the world is suffering. The farmers stopped growing wheat so they could grow corn to make more money. What happened?? Food prices went up. When the price of Oil became unbearable for the world becuase of the US consumption and depandance on it what happened? The prices went up all over the NON arab world. When the stock market fell in the states what happens to the rest of the worlds stock market? The fall as well. And if you think oh well that has nothing to do with me cuase I am Muslim and dont deal in Intrest. SO what you still have to live and when prices rise you still haev to eat, drink, live, and work. When all the jobs lay people off and your number comes up then what. When the prices become so hight you cant afford to eat, pay your bills, get to work, or pay rent what will you do??? When people all over the states are being left homless becuase of the housing crisis and these people did nothing wrong they where just living pay check to pay check and the owner of the home they rent lost it and now they have no place to live. SO you think this can not happen to you??? dont you think there needs to be laws to protect YOU so this does not happen to you.
That is YOUR money that pays for the government. YOu should have a say in how it is used. If you allow others to vote to use YOUR money to kill Muslims then dont complain when it comes knocking in your own back door and they take your son or daughter or husband or wife away.
These things are real and if you just think it will happen to someone else then why live in the states at all. I love the fact that I am American. Even with all its problem and craziness I rather be a black woman from the states than a black woman from any other country. The fact that people died to give you the right to vote. This includes all the Arabs and Asian Muslims this is not only a black thing. Dont you think if there were not already laws that protect all people on the book that after 911 they would have found a way to take all your rights away. Black people and white people died to protect you and it is a slap in the face and a disgrace for any person of any color to have the nerve to say They wont vote.
Yes I am proud that Obama won. Do I think he can really change things? No not much but at least he can start things going in a new direction. These things take time. Nothing good happens overnight. However you must take a stand you must have your say. You must be heard. If not you someone else will take your place and dont complain when they use YOUR voice to say something that your do not like.

Assalaamu alaikum! Masha’Allah Sis, you make a lot of sense and I agree. However, you must consider that many converts/reverts…whatever you choose to classify yourself, spend much time learning their religion. Off the top you read that participating in non-islamic politics is not allowed. Then you start thinking, “wow, ya know, it’s true, this is dunya stuff and none of the parties are in tune with islamic laws, needs, etc”. So, you tend to blow it off. I mean if you look at it, besides secular issues….medical care, taxes, education…what does Obama believe about abortion? What does he say about same sex marriage? These are things that muslims consider. Some say it’s the “lesser of 2 evils”, etc. I’m just saying, you can’t call muslims crazy for having this view and deciding to NOT vote b/c of it. For real, I am black and born and raised in US..how many blacks through out our families and communities ever voted before? We/they are more vested…or at least appear to be more vested in the process than muslims. Again, whether or not I voted is my business. However, I pay taxes in this country and definitely have a right to have my voice heard..you are so right. Anyway, there is a difference of opinion on the matter of voting in non-muslim countries so I say do what is best for yoiu and your family. As a good friend said…she voted for Obama but wil make d’ua about those things he believes that are against what we as muslims believe in. Allahu alim.
