What’s going on…ramdon thoughts

Well not much new going on here. I have read some good reminder books from Bilal Philips. I call them reminder book becuase they are about things I knew before but may have forgotten or just about things we always need to remind ourselves about. Allah, SWT, Gives us so much to learn we should never feel bored.
Thants how I have been feeling Bored but I took a look at the things I have been doing and thought yeah thats why. Too much time reading drama blogs and not enough time On Allah. So I changed that.
I did my Zakat last night. I usually buy food and give it to the poor. I usually do not know who they are they are just ramdom people. This year however, I knew of a family that really needed help with food and other things. I was so happy to see the happiness on her face and the joy inher 6 childrens eyes. Little things like Pancake mix was a huge hit. This is what I love to do. Make a difference. She said she never thought things like this happened in real life.
I thought to myself and thought how sad that is. We as Muslims are required to support our families we are also commanded to look after our neighbors. I think it is something like 60 houses to the left, right, front and back; if we did this no one would starve. so instead of not believing things like this happen in reality she should expect it. Many people live in huge homes with more than enough to eat but never venture out of that comfort zone and help the needy or for that matter just to see what is out there.
Our helping is not limited to feeding people. What about the widow that needs help with her son. She may have no male relatives to help guide him. How about picking him up when you take your own sons to play or out to Mcdonalds. Male compaionship is so important.
How about visiting the sick in your area.
how about paying a persons utility bill.
Even in the Arab world where there is a huge family involvement there are still people that need attention, old peopel that would love a visit just because.
These are things that are required in Islam not just during Ramadan but all the time.
We forget ISLAM is the perfect religon. It has answers for EVERYTHING. There would be no starving people if we did our share. We mess up in islam Islam never messes up.

This amoung other things make me KNOW Islam is so right. There is no doubt in my mind how right being a Muslim is for me and really for the world. No other faith does or has what Islam has. People may take things out of context and TRY to make Islam seem harsh, barbaric, and just around for men to fulfill their lust; but in reality it is such a religion of kindenss, love, patients, self giving, and worship. It is really a total way of life. It is not an Arab thing, or an Asain thing or an African thing. Yes these people tend to put their cultural values into their Islam but PURE ISLAM is for everyone no matter that culture. Everyone has a place.

This made me think of a comment on a post a few days ago when a lady said her kids have two cultures in Americia. Islam and normal american. Those were not her words but that is what she meant. I think how WRONG that is. So many people just want to copy an arab culture and think it is Islamic. You do not have to give up your american Idenity to be a good Muslim. YOu can still be the person you are and be a great Muslim. YOu do not have to wear a thobe or an abayah. You do not have to give up all your friends and family. Yes, sometimes if you have friends that are into all kinds of sinful acts then yes. But those friend do not define you or make up a true American Culture. Your dress does not have to change so far to the left that you do not even look like your self. If you were a fly girl before you can still be fly. If you were a brother that always looked just right GQ as they used to say in my day, you can still be all that. Women YOu can wear other things to cover you up. YEs I do believe you need an outter garment but NO WHERE have I ever read that it has to be AN abayah. I look at people from all over the world dressing Islamicly correct and many of them never wear an abayah or a thobe. We HAVE to stop thinking Other cultures have the monolopy of Islam. They dont. It has become VERY clear to me cause i live amoung other cultures and see the sad state our Ummah is in and one reason is becuase we do not follow the rules of Islam but we put in our own mess and end up with HIslam. All we have to do is follow what is said not people or their traditions. Make your own Traditions as long as they are with in the guidelines of Islam I do not see the problem.

Oh something just becuase
The other day My son and I were in the car. Well my youngest wasi n there too come to think of it. Anway my son out of the blue starts sinings, YEAH, listens to music so do I. I love my ole school, and that is just one battle I am not fighting right now living overe here all I have is my I-Pod lol.

OPPS..my bad.., I forgot the only music other than disney tunes going on in my home is mine. All I listen to well 90% of what I listen to is stuff i grew up on. My poor baby . He is stuck in the 70’sand 80’s and 90’s. He is lovin an era that he knows nothing about. He loves music older than him. BUT I would rather him listen to that then the crap they call music today………

  1. Very nice thoughts. Great points about how tradition and culture often influence religious views and interpretations. I liked reading about how you gave groceries to the poor woman. That’s such a wonderful feeling to know you helped someone who cannot give to you in return.

It reminds me of something I read the other day:

    Luke 14

12Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Have a great day! I enjoyed your post.

  2. Oh the lady was not poor but just having a hard time. She has 6 kids and works with me. Our job give is free school fees and air fare for 3 children so she has to repay the school for 3 airfares and school fees for her younger kids. So she will work 4months and only take home a very small amount then the other 6 she will get a little bit more but still not her full check. I admire her because she is doing this for her children. She wants them to see the world and live amoung Muslims. She unlike me is giving up alot. She could make more take home money at home but she chose this for Allah.
